Kisaragi Gentarou (Fukushi Sota) is the new transfer student in Amanogawa High School. He's seated near unsociable Utahoshi Kengo and his otaku childhood friend, Yuki. Gentarou is a guy with strong justice who attempts to make friends with everybody. As for his first goal is to get along with loner Kengo who always pushes him away. But, Gentarou never gives up. He believes that when he able to tame such a difficult person, he'd be able to be accepted by everybody else.
In Amanogawa, students are divided by the groups they belong to. Gentarou soon being captivated by the beauty of the queen's school, Miu. But, her jock boyfriend, Daimonji, pushes Gentarou away. As Daimonji and his friends 'teach' the transfer student a lesson, a monster called Zodiart appears in front of their eyes.
Seeing the first episode lead me to a disappointment
First, the acting is rough.
Now we're back to square one when actings are not more important than the action scenes. This is what happen in KRF- you don't mind the abbreviation right?-. Although, I know that many tousatsu series cast members are newbies, but they should be this stiff. As I already seen Kamen Rider W, I think my level grow a little. KRW is what I call perfect tokusatsu with great acting skill, nice costume and awesome action. Since Kamen Rider Kiva, I realize that tokusatsu is not only a fighting scenes series, but there is also drama flowing beneath all heroes matter. Hey, heroes are (mostly) human, too, right?
The main flaw is Yuki (Fumika Shimizu). Her acting sucks. Why can't she be like Narumi Akiko which people said the new-type of heroine. She doesn't smile at the right time, her expression is misplaced. awww, I hope she works harder for the next episodes.
Second, is this American production?
This series put too many American's adaptation that you can call it parody. Take a look at the school background which reminds me to most American school movies. Groups in cafetaria are the otaku, the delinquents, book worm, the goof-offs, the muscle men, and of course the popular people. Ahhh, so much like "Never been kissed" *sorry for taking such an old analogy. I stopped watching American school movie after that.*
What is it about popular thing? Tokusatsu never use such frame for the series. Having a high school student as Kamen Rider is bad enough, now they want us to feel Americanization? Oh, nooo
Third, it's more like Ultraman than a Kamen Rider
Fourze doesn't fight alone. Gentarou needs Kengo as his tactician. There also other friends like Yuki, JK and Tomoko to fight along. Sounds like Ultraman package for me.
It IS too early to conclude the level of this series. First episodes may project the quality, but I choose to ignore it and try next episode. I'll probably update the episodes development. Till then...

ReplyDeletekalo akting heroine emang awal2 episode itu kaya'nya belum terlatih, msh keliatan kakunya, tp lama2 bagus juga kok, dr pengamatanku sejauh ini..
aku juga kurang suka settingnya, kaya' mengurangi esensi dan ciri khas kamen rider.. :(
mungkin harus seperti ini biar aku bisa pensiun nonton kamen rider, hehe... *lebaayy
